PARCR, the Pennsylvania Alliance of Retirement Community Residents , is a voluntary statewide organization of residents of retirement communities. Full membership is open to resident councils of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). Associate memberships are open to individual residents. Membership costs are nominal. PARCR provides the following services:

ASSISTANCE to member resident councils and potential member councils through personal contact. This assistance includes meeting with administration and/or resident representatives; identifying leadership traits and goals; and presentations to groups of residents to stimulate enthusiasm for resident council organizations.

EDUCATION to residents and administration on the problems, pitfalls, and solutions in developing effective resident councils.

ADVOCACY on state, national and local levels regarding the issues confronting seniors, particularly from the perspective of residents in retirement communities.

PROGRAMS on long term care, managed care, health services, current issues and trends, legislative and policy concerns.

ENCOURAGEMENT for the development of effective, mutually beneficial relationships between residents and administration.
